Dear Colleagues and Friends,

I am very pleased to announce that our next biennal meeting, the XIV Congress of the European Shock Society, will be held at the Hilton Hotel in Giardini Naxos (Taormina), Italy, August 31 -September 2, 2011.

Scientifically, the XIV Congress will build on its predecessors. We are confident of developing an exciting and challenging program, consisting of Keynote Lectures, Round Tables, Oral and Poster Presentations on a very high scientific level, in order to offer an appropriate forum to prominent experts and motivated young investigators. I hope I will be able to concretize these prospects not only with the help of the Board but also with your active participation. Your qualified and stimulating participation in our Congress, your involvement in the different aspects of the life of the Society are crucial.

The Congress provides the opportunity for its delegates to discuss the newest and most remarkable developments in both clinical practice and research. In addition, during the meeting the election of the new President and Board will take place.
